CRPS and PT: What No One’s Telling You

Sep 10, 2025

Hey there!

When someone is diagnosed with CRPS, the first thing they're often told to do is start physical therapy.

And that makes sense—movement is medicine, right? But what happens when the standard physical therapy approach doesn’t help? Or even makes things worse?

That might have unfortunately happened to you.

You go to appointments. You try the exercises. You push through the pain like you've been told. But instead of getting better, you're stuck.

It's not your fault.

The current treatment guidelines for CRPS treatment share that CRPS necessitates an interdisciplinary team approach (more than a multidisciplinary team approach and far more than an individual therapy approach).

CRPS affects:

  • The immune system

  • The autonomic nervous system

  • The motor and sensory systems

  • The limbic brain, which processes emotion and memory

  • And more

So why are we still trying to treat it like a sprained ankle?

That’s why our approach is transdisciplinary—meaning we don’t just throw more PT at the problem. We bring together physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychology, and wellness-based support like yoga therapy, all tailored for CRPS. We don’t just help people move again—we help them feel safe moving again.

You’re not “resistant.” You’re not broken. You’re not failing treatment—treatment may be failing you.
You deserve care that sees the whole picture, not just the pain.

If you want to discuss more about a transdisciplinary team approach for you, you could set up a free consultation with me after filling out this online application!

Cheers to being the expert of your own body!
