Ever wondered if your pain is really just CRPS?
Jul 16, 2025
Hey there!
Have you ever wondered in your pain is "just CRPS"?
Anecdotally, I've heard my clients; differentiating their pain from "this is my CRPS pain" and "this is another pain", and I thought that was so interesting!
Maybe, yours started after an injury, a broken bone, and/or a surgery? You aren't alone -- that is the case for 90% of people with CRPS. So likely there could be some residual biomechanical influences that are impacting the way you move and increasing your pain!
There's two camps of individuals I usually meet when I do free consultations for folks with CRPS:
1) Your healthcare provider believes that your pain is all biomechanical and not CRPS-related at all (or worse, ignores that you have CRPS).
2) Your healthcare provider believes that any and all of your pain is CRPS.
BUT...
Why not work on both?
Beth, our amazing client with CRPS, did both -- and her outcomes speak for themselves (click the picture of her stretching for her outcomes!)
This is where the skill of working with providers knowledgable with working with others with CRPS comes in.
Because for the person who fit in the first camp:
- maybe it's too early to address some of the biomechanical pieces because the pain flare ups are just in the way.
- maybe strengthening and stretching won't help right now.
- maybe it's time to take a holistic picture.
For the person in the second camp:
- maybe it's time to revaluate if your injury has a role in your symptoms (the mechanism, the nerve involvement, the structures above and below your pain).
- maybe it's time to identify mechanical patterns that contribute to the pain.
- maybe it's time to take a holistic picture.
If you want to hear more from Beth herself! I've linked the video of the interview below:
